Girl,You wear shorts?!! :O

The Indian women are well taken care of. They are not only invulnerable but are dreadfully respected too! They are traditionally termed as "Devi" after Devi Durga banished all the evil powers from our society! It is believed that women can lead this phony society towards purity and integrity. Women are the symbol of love and piety. It is a woman's love that can nurture a little baby into a full-grown adorable man.

But- These all came with a "Conditions Apply" tag! A woman with a traditional attire is most likely to be the one with all these qualities. Wearing a tee and shorts if you are a woman (I mean an Indian woman) is still a "She-is-trying-to-show-off" or "Ohh!! My Goodness! She is a bitch!" condition!! And as you can imagine what will be the case if you are already married! And being born as an Indian girl, I am very well aware about our really contemporary society. I had learnt to hold back my ever-longing desire to wear shorts when I go out with such group of people.

I was even more mesmerized when one of my cousin (nearly of my own age) suddenly expressed her decade-suppressed views about wearing shorts.

We were heading towards a family get-together, me and my cousin, hand-in-hand. A girl was passing by wearing a short denim skirt. My cousin suddenly ambushed upon that stranger (I don't know what actually bothered her) and cried out to me-- Look at that girl!!

I (very much unaware of the fact that she was talking about the length of her skirt), replied back to her-- Yeah!! What? I find nothing absurd.....

My cousin waylaid me-- Just look at her skirt!! Ki cheappp!!!! (Ki-- SO in bengali)

I was hushed by her words, not knowing what to reply her back. The girl came nearer to us. I pretended that we were actually not talking about her but somehow guilt suppressed my outlook.

My cousin waited for the actual time to show her heroic deeds and just when the girl was about to pass us, my cousin cried out loud-- If we girls wear such dresses, why won't guys hound us?!

My cousin was out-flashing her all 32 in great gratitude and pride while I was down in the drains! I was trying to escape the girl's aching heart and emotions! I was trying to prove that I was not the one who considered her to be a bitch!

I looked at my cousin and said-- Chill!!

That was the day after when, I knew all my shorts must be carefully locked inside my closet whenever my cousin visits me, to become a perfect Bharatiya Naari!!

Down From Heaven!!

As the whole family travels deep down, they all linger in a flickering enthusiasm and ecstasy. The coolie who carried their luggage was surrendering himself from the strenuous job he was appointed to.

Ma Durga with her ever smiling face looked at her daughter Saraswati (Sara) as Sara spoke out-- Look Maa!! They really have done a stupendous job to welcome us! Staying for only 5 days makes it too meek for this brilliant celebration, Maa!! Can't we stay a bit longer?!

Durga smiled and gave her daughter a sharp reply-- Your hubby must be waiting for you, my girl! Don't you forget that!!    Sara sighed!!

Lakshmi, very aware of her mother's nature, shunned away from expressing her similar kind of longings. She hastily went near her brother Ganesh and patted on his back.

Hey dude! What's making you so thoughtful?!

Ganesh, jerking from his thoughts, looked back at Lakshmi.

Nothing much! Was just thinking its only me who doesn't miss his spouse! Why do you all come without your spouses?! That must be hurting, naah Kartik?!

Ganesha and Kartikeya on peacockKartik, their beloved brother, looked at Ganesh and Lakshmi, gave them a smile and turned back again.

Ho!! Someone's being way too romantic, buddy!!

Was Lakshmi's immediate reply to Ganesh with a sudden thud on his back again. The whole family laughed out loud to show their utter excitement about the trip!!

A short distance away from them, sat their mother smiling at her children's gossip!! After all She too, was travelling without Shiva by Her side.

Down here all the local kakus (uncles) and kakimas (aunties) were busy arranging the puja thaalis and all other necessities. The para (Locality) was beaming with ardent enthusiasm and excitement for the welcome ceremony of Maa Durga and her family! It was the Bengali's festive season. Even the little children had the knowledge of how Maa Durga killed and abolished the demon Mahishashura. How She became the symbol of Strength, Courage and Love was not obscure to anyone down here.

The para chhokraas waited so long for this evening to arrive when they could stand and look at girls in pretty attires and whistle at them. Durga Pujo for them is yet another occasion to have a look at the beautiful girls who pass by!!

The Dhaakis prepare themselves with their dhaaks to play and give the city the ever-lasting essence of Durga Pujo! The para Kaku commands the dhaaki to enchant their beats. The dhaakis start their melodious wonder as all the kakus and kakimas get up and join them and they have a beautiful time all together!

The Purohit gets elated with the thought of his bank balance nearly tripling this season! The more number of Pandals he visits and enchants the prayers and the shlokas, the more he is respected and the more he earns! He therefore prompts himself to be fit and healthy for the upcoming strenuous days!!

The students plan about the marvelous outings on those 5 days when their parents would say them not a single word, the lovers willing abide for the pujo to commence and hence they could go Pandal hopping hand in hand, the family gets out even in the hottest day to shop for their upcoming festival!!

The people start arranging their famous Dhunuchi Naach stuffs! What A lovely time they spend dancing all around! :)

And as the day approaches, all the para members get on the truck and there they go to bring their Maa Durga and Her Family , home after yet another year!

Maa Durga and her 4 children prepare to land down from their private jet. Suddenly Ganesh points out- Hey you all! Look down!

And as they all look down, they see, thousands of their devotees on their way to receive them and all of them chanting --

                     Joy Durga Mai Ki Joyy!!!!

Durgaa Pujor onek onek Preeti o Subeccha! :) Happy Durga Puja To All!! :)

Partying On Birthdays!!

Parties! Parties! Parties!

That's what ardently corresponds to the birthdays nowadays! We sleep,we eat, we work, we play , nevertheless we never forget our birthdays are approaching! As a child, I found myself always waning in thoughts about the other important stuffs in my then life, viz studies, much before my birthday would have even approached.

Too many guests to accommodate inside our 3 storied home and the large roof that I loved beyond any imagination, mostly comprised of children of my age and their ever-worrying parents. And once they all pack up their bags and leave me and my family behind in our house, me mourning again with the thought of another terrific wait till my next birthday arrives, my mother sits to open all the gifts I had received that evening leaving me patiently abiding for her to tear off the gift wraps!!

And my face once again enlightened as she opens all my lovely gifts one after another.

Aaaaaahhhhhh!! Those were days, left a long time back.!

While triffling gifts mean a lot to the children, we adults too never budge away from the little gifts and parties we get to throw at our places on our birthdays! We wait for the friends and the family to arrive with their smiling faces and of course the gifts they bring us! We start to renovate ourselves and spend more than half of the day in front of the mirror for the upcoming birthday bash. For my Birthday Bash! Its My Day!

We neglect the fact that we are one more step ahead of reaching our forfeit, the death, that will one day engulf us too very boorishly and we thus celebrate on putting some more mileage on!

But paying a penalty in future doesn't really mean we give up on celebrating our happy days, our relationships!! These remain as grotesque memories as we go along with our life!

Mausis, Boudis, Aunties, come along and say-- Oreyy baba!! Koto boro hoyegeche!! Sei chottobelai dekhechilam!! (You have grown so big! Saw you when you were a kid!), and me stunningly looking at them and smiling at some of my wicked thoughts where I relate the same facts with them!

Some of them gorging over the food like the food being served was a little more than what they have seen during their whole lifetime! And others, talking about their own sarees, brands and jewelleries and bemeaning others!

As I grow a little more each year, my priorities, my taste change and I abashedly find myself not getting flattered on the matters I previously used to do! These Parties to me, have left a very little euphoria!

I love my birthdays simple yet fun! I make sure to have all those stuffs and people who matter to me the most on my day! I make sure I have my mom, dad, my sister and my best friend on that day, partying and having fun with them rather than the phony grinning aunties.

The food, the favorite meat, a glass of wine, and my loving family and a handful of besties are all that I wanted in my birthdays!

And what else can give you more elation when the people who matter the most to you give you lovely  self made gifts! You can't stop smiling, right?!

Aaaahhhh, this what happens to me too!! :)
My bestfriend gifted me on my last bday!

My elder sister and mom too have never stopped sweeping my feet off with their own hand made recipes and gifts on my  birthdays! I'm a firm believer of these trivial things when it comes to rendering joy! So last night was the similar birthday party at our house celebrating the birthday of my very on elder sister where I cooked her favorite mutton dish as a birthday gift! Here goes one of its snap, that I clicked after the preparation was over.

How can I not make her favorite dish on her budday  myself, when she never stops swooning me off with her surprises?! :) Happy Birthday Di! :)

Alu Snatches Cattle's LunchBox!!

He came out of the court moaning and whining about the whole episode that he had to just undergo! His trusted allies (Even more than his wife, Barfi Devi) and "can-do-everything-for you" partners, gave him a rotten look narrowing their eyebrows and gestured -- Bhai sahab, we trusted you when you told we will never get caught and can live lavishly and happily ever after! Yii Kaa sahi baat hua, boliye toh!!
But they have to soon depart their ever bothering, questioning eyes away from those of Mr.Alu's!! Alu looked mysteriously mournful and looked down on the roads! Aaaaahh!! They had trusted him even more for his name! How bothering can this be now to them?!

The whole atmosphere was somewhat putrid and stifle to Mr.Alu Rasad Yadav. Never in his life did he imagine for once that he have to look at the career-devastating, rusted bars of the jail!
But what was his crime?? Ok,well, I meant mistake?!

He was just having some daily haystacks from those of a very few cattle! He was just trying to live his life with rendering enough to his family of sons and daughters and Barfi Devi, and well, yeah, some ten thousand dozens cattle!!
Being the President of the Parliament doesn't really mean he will never worry about his own little family!! Eh?!

He is a real loving and adorable father! Yeah, he is! You can surely have a real guess from the number of gorgeous babies he has!

But now, Alu ji is all set for the hell! He's trying to snatch himself away from it, but alas! He just had to go leaving his family and the fodder behind! Just as he was going to hug and bless one of his children, he remembered he can nearly delay his settlement in jail for another year or two! He has got a whole little happy family to hug and exchange blessings and then last but not the least, his dear cattle are really not far enough for him to reach them. Ohh!! This mehenat for all these years has brought him some vantage atleast!

He looked at Mr.Mishra, raised his eyebrows and gave a cunning smile!

Alas!! Was that the revenge of the previous gesture that Mr.Mishra exchanged with his trusted boss?!

But it was them who once planned to share lunch from the cattle's LunchBox!! How can Alu ji cheat on them like this??!!
